I can't do this Mormon thing, a friend told Brad Wilcox. "I've tried, and the expectations are just way too high." And she's not alone in her thinking. Many people, as they feel themselves falling short of perfection, are tempted to quit trying.
But are there only two options? Think of it this way When a person is learning to play the piano, are the only two options performing at Carnegie Hall or quitting? Similarly, in mortality, are the only two choices being perfect or giving up?
"No," writes Brad Wilcox. "Growth and development take time. Learning takes practice. Discipleship is a journey, and true conversion is a continuous process."
In this hope-filled book, Brad shares his keen understanding and testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ as it relates to our own conversion. Conversion occurs, he says, "when we stop trying to earn heaven and start trying to learn it...As we take each little step to show faith, repent, make and live covenants, seek the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end, we are not paying our way into heaven. We are practicing for it."

One of the most powerful books I've ever read. Confirms the fact that you can't use up the Atonement, and trying to repent and then failing is part of the human condition, and was expected by God. I have recommended this book to everyone who will listen. If I had the money, I would have given this book as a Christmas gift to everyone I've ever known. It's incredible to me that a book this deep, and yet TOTALLY accessible was written by a well-known church speaker and not one of the apostles. So far beyond the price of the book, gives so much hope and perspective regarding our rocky journey here. RUN, don't walk and get this book!!!!!!!!!!Product details

This particular purchase was a gift, but this book is truly amazing. It is taking me so long to read because it make you think, I'm marking, highlighting and taking notes. Brad Wilcox is really inspirational, and anyone looking at strengthening their testimony needs to read this book.
This book is filled with quotables and concepts that help us understand the Atonement and the role of conversion in our lives. Loved it!
Scriptures are one thing. Learning how scriptures apply to us personally is another, especially when we tend to be our own worst critics. This book expounds on the role of the atonement in our life and helps us see that life is not just a bunch of boxes being checked off and if we have more good than bad, then "we're in". Rather, it takes the viewpoint that life is a school and the atonement is what allows us to progress. Its not about who we were yesterday nor necessarily about who we are today, it is about who we will become...and the choice is ours whether we want to become all we can.
For the serious LDS reader who wants to contemplate the conversion process as it relates to the atonement and the Plan of Salvation. I read a chapter a night, and I found myself pondering things that I'm not sure I ever thought of before. I would suggest it be read after Wilcox's book The Continuous Atonement.
Brad Wilcox is one of my favorite authors. I saw him speak at a time out for women and went running up to him because I had to have him sign one of the other books he has written, "The Continuous Atonement". He writes books that are intelligent, but easy to read. He gives great insights that make his subject matter easier to understand without dumbing it down. He issues lots of personal experiences and personal stories, too, which I love. I would highly recommend him. I encourage people all the time to read his books, but rarely do I lend them out because I always want to keep a copy at home for my own reference. Love his writing.
